Why is On-Page SEO Necessary?

Content is not the only factor that will push your article to the top of Google, you also need to ensure the article is optimized for on-page and off-page SEO standards. On-page SEO is important because it helps Google understand what your website is about and how relevant it is to user searches. By optimizing your website for Google search, you can improve your chances of ranking higher in search results and driving more traffic to your site.

what is on page seo

Basically, a standard SEO article needs to meet these criteria: title, meta description, H1, H2, URL, etc. In this article, we will share with you the 2023 on-page SEO checklist.

1. Page URL

URL is one of the biggest influencing factors on SEO On-page. Remember, the shorter your URL, the more likely it is to get to the top. Put your focus keyword (highest search volume) in the URL.

A good on-page SEO URL needs 3 factors:

  • Contains the main SEO keywords (with high search volume)

  • It's short, but it's all about (top 1 URLs usually have an average of 59 words).

  • Related to the article's content

Note: Should include many keywords with the same search purpose (Search Intent) in the same URL to be able to SEO a series of keywords at the same time.

2. Title Tags

The title tag is one of the most important on-page SEO elements. This is the major text that displays in search engine results pages (SERPs), so make sure your title tags are keyword-rich and appropriately represent the information on your page.

Some notes when doing title optimization:

  • Keep it under 60 characters to prevent it from being cut off in search results.

  • Be aware of Keyword Stuffing.

  • Make sure your title tags are unique and descriptive.

  • Make sure it is not in all caps.

  • Don't forget to include your brand (i.e. "What is On-Page SEO and Why is It Important? - OC SEO Marketing".)

  • Use a marketing power word (curiosity, stir up emotion, compel people to click, separate yourself from some of the other results)

  • Use numbers and brackets when it makes sense

  • Use the month or year when it makes sense

Keeping the SEO keyword closer to the front of the title helps to increase CTR & rankings. The title should not be the same as Heading 1. You need to put the title with related keywords and the same keywords. The title contains as many keywords as possible but should be natural.

3. Number of Words

You need to ensure the number of words in an article:

  • The post must be at least 1300 words for major SEO pages.

  • Prioritize nature and can insert multiple semantic keywords.

  • For category pages, for optimal UX / UI use JavaScript (also write 500 words)

4. Post length

Post length is one of Google's quickest and easiest ways to roughly gauge whether your post is in-depth & user-oriented. Some evidence shows that 1890 words will be the best number for the length of a standard SEO article.

Why is it 1890?

Jonah Berger demonstrates that articles over 2000 words tend to be shared the most. Because of the more in-depth content, the time users spend on the web and reading articles will also be longer.

5. Image

A standard SEO article not only needs to focus on keyword optimization but also optimize the images posted on the website. In order for Google to correctly index your picture files and alt text, you must add keywords to each of these areas. Here are a few small notes when you optimize images in your posts:

  • Naming images must be unsigned and accented - between words.

  • Optimize SEO tags for your images.

  • The meta sections in the image must be filled in completely including (the title, subtitle, author, meta description, etc.) or at least named the image before uploading.
